This month I’m going to review the TIppmann Response Trigger. My main marker is a TIppmann X-7, which I bought in the most basic configuration even though the Response Trigger is available on most Tippmann markers as an optional feature. Basically, it is a piston that sits behind the trigger and allows you to fire in the normal semi-auto or fire in a rapid burst fire by holding the trigger down. I purchased the trigger kit which has all of the parts necessary and a couple of specialty tools, though it does require a couple of really basic hand tools. The manual that came with the kit was very easy to understand and each step was explained and had detailed pictures in case you are more of a visual person. I am pretty mechanically inclined and had no problem installing the trigger kit though it’s not much harder than taking your marker apart for cleaning. If you find cleaning your marker to be a daunting task then I would recommend buying a marker with this already installed.
Once you get the unit installed, you then have to tune it. Don’t worry, this is not as hard as it sounds and it is very clearly explained in the manual. I was able to test this upgrade at my local field this past weekend and it worked out great. You see, most fields around here don’t allow electronic markers to fire in anything other than semi auto. However since the Response setup is not a true automatic fire it is allowable, so I had that option when I was in a hairy situation. My only complaint is that it does take it’s toll on your trigger finger. I think there may be a double trigger in my future…….
